CEV Cup 2023/24

Round of 16. Second match

November 29. Groningen (Netherlands)

"Lycurgus" - VC "Prometey 0:3 (22:25, 23:25, 24:26)

In the first match between the teams, the "red and whites" won a confident "dry" victory. Therefore, in the return match, in order to reach the 1/8 finals of the CEV Cup, the players of "Prometey" had to take only two sets. In the end, they even overachieved this task.

At the start of the confrontation, it was the Ukrainians who took the initiative (5:8). However, the Dutch added power in the attack, due to which our guys did not always successfully block their shots. In the end, the opponents not only equalized parity, but also took the lead with a comfortable handicap (18:15).

Andrii Levchenko took a time-out and decided to rotate, releasing Dmytro Viietskyi to the court. Such perturbations worked: the "red and whites" regained the lead, and soon put an end to this set with a triple block - 22:25.

In the next set, we also witnessed intense struggle (7:7). However, Prometey volleyball players gained momentum with each new rally. And even despite the score on the scoreboard, they completely controlled the course of the meeting - 23:25.

So, after the previous success, our athletes secured their way to the next stage ahead of time. Despite this, they did not lose motivation and ended the match with an "easy" victory - 24:26.
