Прометей

On January 21, at 18:30, SC "Prometey" will play in the MEVZA League for the second time in a row. The location is the same - the city of Kaštela. However, another opponent is the representative of Slovenia "Branik" (Maribor).

"Branik" is the vice-champion of Slovenia and a participant in the CEV Cup

Our nearest opponent "Branik", like the previous one "Marina", also holds the title of vice-champion of the country. They last won the Slovenian championship in the 2018/19 season. After that came the leadership of "Calcit" - another rival of "red and whites" in this competition.

The club is currently in second place in the Slovenian championship, having won 12 of 13 matches. The only defeat was against the same "Calcit". In addition, this season "Branik" took part in the CEV Cup, where it was eliminated from the Italian "Busto-Arsizio" at the 1/16 final stage (twice by 0-3).

The team is made up exclusively of Slovenians, and its most productive players in the MEVZA League are the players Lorena Lorber Fijok (48 points) and Tali Lekshe (23). The team is headed by local specialist Bruno Najdych, who once worked with the national women's team of Slovenia.

The Middle European League (MEVZA) is an annual volleyball tournament among the teams of the member countries of the Middle European Volleyball Zonal Association. However, in different years, representatives of other zonal associations were also invited to participate in the competition.

This season, Prometey also got the opportunity to try their hand at the Central European League. We would like to remind you that Ukraine belongs to the Eastern European Zonal Association (EEVZA).

The opponents of Ivan Petkov's team in this tournament were the Austrian "Linz-Steg", the Slovenian teams "Calcit" (Kamnik) and "Branik" (Maribor), the Hungarian "Bekeshčaba", the Croatian "Mladost" (Zagreb) and "Marina Kaštela".

Competitions are held according to a circle system, where each of the teams will play one match against other participants of the tournament. Based on the results of the six played rounds, the four best teams will advance to the semi-finals.
